Text Box: On September 13, we held our 14th Annual Chili Cook-off at the Hill AFB Museum. The cook-off was held in conjunction with “open cockpit” day at the museum, and for the first time we coordinated the event with Chapter 237’s Ride for Pride. Thirteen teams participated in the preparation and serving of various forms of chili. The proceeds from the Chili Cook-off enabled our chapter to present a check for $2,000 to the Military Family Foundation to support the Airman and Family Readiness Center’s Hearts Apart Program.

We invite you all to attend the Brent Scowcroft awards banquet which honors the best performers in the Missile, Space and C3I communities. The banquet, tentatively scheduled for March 18, 2009, will be held at the Davis Convention Center.

The Chapter’s annual visit to the VA Hospital is scheduled for was once again a great success. Two Santa’s and a mass of carolers visited over 300 veterans. We many of our generous Community Partners to donate items for delivering stockings to the veterans. We also had a number of cadets and family members from Clearfield and Northridge High School JROTC cadets join us. It is our partnership with these cadets and the smiles on the veterans faces that continue to make this annual event so rewarding.

The LtGen Kevin J. Sullivan Awards Banquet was held on November 13th, 2008. We welcomed 300 plus individuals from the 309th, 508th, and 84th to the Timbermine restaurant to recognize the top performers. BGen Litchfield was the keynote speaker and Maj Gen Close provided closing remarks. The feedback was extremely positive for this first class event.

Dan Shumway presented a $1000 check to the JROTC at Northridge High School. This next quarter the Chapter will be gearing up to support the Science Olympiad, the Science and Engineering Fair, and the Teacher of the Year awards. These activities are always some of the most fun in which to participate and an opportunity to connect with the young leaders of tomorrow.
